Unfortunately, many women don’t know that preparing the body at least one year before getting pregnant is very important for women’s and their developing babies’ health.

So, let’s dive in and I’ll show you some simple steps that I took and you can also take to prepare for a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby and avoid gestational diabetes, hypertension, and other health-related issues.

First thing I did before getting pregnant was my husband and I got done all the necessary blood tests. I drove him crazy with all the testing but it was worth it. I like to plan everything to make things easier. For women, I would HIGHLY recommend please check for your thyroid levels. A mismanaged thyroid not only can be a hindrance in getting pregnant but also it’ll cause many issues in your pregnancy and delivery if left untreated.

Second, you’ll have to leave PROCESSED CARBS and SUGARS for God’s sake. As elevated insulin levels not only would lead to gestational diabetes and hypertension but also it is extremely harmful to your developing baby’s brain and vital organs. DO NOT consume seed oils (sunflower, safflower, corn, canola, and rapeseed oils). Guess what? these oils are found in every single packaged snack here in our stores. Remember you are preparing your body for getting pregnant so you can’t have inflammatory foods in your fridge.

Third, eat ORGAN MEATS of cow or goat such as liver and kidney if you can. You would not find those in regular US stores but would be able to find them in local halal grocery stores. The liver has all the b complex vitamins including tons of folate and iron which you’ll need a lot starting from the first trimester trust me!! If you can’t possibly eat beef or goat liver I’d get high-quality liver supplements. This one I used this one when I was pregnant. click here

Fourth, DETOX your body before you get pregnant. Yes, it is essential to flush toxins out of your liver before you get pregnant because the last thing you want while expecting is gallstones or liver congestion, and it is pretty common you’d be surprised. Your liver has to be working at its optimal levels in order for you to be healthy and to do a detox you’ll need to leave all the above-mentioned things.

Lastly, STAY ACTIVE. before I got pregnant I was doing weight lifting as well and once I got along in my pregnancy I stopped weight lifting but continued back and pelvic strength yoga as well. I would highly recommend if you don’t do weight lifting start some kind of resistance training that would help you ALOTTT in the last trimester. Your pelvic floor muscles need to be super strong and for that, you can do easy yoga poses at a minimum starting each morning.

Good luck to the mamas-to-be. Stay tuned for more health tips as I am starting my series on moms’ health!!
